The Opportunity
Tullow is offering an exciting opportunity within the Jubilee Field Developments team. We are looking for a dynamic Lead Development Geologist to join us on a Permanent (hybrid) basis, located at our office in Chiswick, UK.
Job Purpose
This role will provide geological support within the Jubilee subsurface development team, to include geomodelling, infill well planning, support to well operations, geoscience data evaluation and integration, in support of development activities on the Jubilee deepwater oil field. The position requires close collaboration with subsurface, drilling, and operations teams, as well as engagement with joint venture partners.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Geomodelling & Subsurface Characterization
- Develop, update and maintain 3D geological and reservoir models.
- Integrate seismic (including seismic attributes), well log, core, and production data to refine reservoir understanding.
- Quantify uncertainties and support scenario-based modelling for field development and infill well planning.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers to ensure models are fit-for-purpose for simulation.
- In collaboration with team geoscientists and reservoir engineers, support and advise reservoir static model updates for history matching.
Infill Well Planning & Operations
- Identify and mature infill drilling opportunities to maximize recovery.
- Perform reservoir mapping, volumetrics, and risk assessments for proposed well locations.
- Recommend optimal well trajectories and targets in collaboration with drilling and subsurface teams.
- Support economic evaluations and reserves booking processes
- Provide geological input into well design, planning, and execution for deepwater operations.
- Support real-time drilling activities, including geosteering and formation evaluation using LWD/MWD data.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Prepare and present high-quality technical materials for partner meetings and assurance reviews.
- Interface with host government and regulatory bodies where required.
- Promote best practices in subsurface workflows.
Drive collaboration across geoscience, reservoir engineering, drilling, and operations teams.
Experience & Education
Degree in Geology or Geophysics
Masters level or greater preferred
Skills
- Strong expertise in deepwater depositional systems and reservoir geology.
- Advanced Petrel geomodelling skills
- Strong understanding of the impact of geology, and petrophysics, on reservoir dynamic behaviour in producing oil fields
- Experience in the application of workflows and model updates for history matching on late life producing assets.
- Proven experience in infill well planning and reservoir optimization.
- Solid understanding of drilling operations, well planning, and geosteering workflows.
- Ability to integrate multidisciplinary datasets into coherent geological interpretations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in cross-functional, multicultural teams
