Our UK office, based in Chiswick is looking to appoint a Legal Advisor on a permanent basis. The individual will be responsible for providing legal support to Tullow’s Non-Operated Production Assets. Proficiency in French would be advantageous, as would experience of advising on Francophone African legal matters.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an in-house legal team who is focussed on developing their team. We are looking for an individual who is eager and motivated to learn.


The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For


        •   Provide legal advice and support to Business Managers and relating to all legal aspects of Tullow’s Non-Operated Production Business currently based in Gabon and Cote D’Ivoire, including compliance with all laws and regulations. Scope to also support the        wider Tullow portfolio across Africa and South America
       •    Advising on structuring, drafting, negotiating and reviewing ongoing compliance with various commercial agreements, and able to advise across Tullow's key legal practice areas. 
       •    Advising on engagement with partners under the joint ventures, Government or regulatory bodies / authorities, industry bodies, third party contractors and other legal-related and senior internal and external stakeholders.
       •    Management of external legal counsel as required.
       •    Managing dispute resolution and litigation arising out of Tullow’s activities.

  •  Working closely and regularly communicating with the Associate General Counsel (Exploration and Non-Operated Production Assets) and other team members as appropriate.

  • Significant experience in drafting, negotiating and/or advising on two or more of the following practice areas: Operational Oil and Gas Supply Chain, Transactional Oil and Gas/Corporate M&A, Dispute Management, Corporate Finance, Co-Sec.



Education and Experience

  • University graduate and professionally qualified lawyer                                                                           
  • Post qualification knowledge and oil and gas experience working as part of a goal-focused team, in a commercial environment, to challenging deadlines either with a leading private practice firm or in-house legal department.
  • Experience of dealing with JVs, third parties and/or Government authorities.
  • Experience of providing legal advice on contractual and legislative/regulatory matters.
  • French language skills a significant advantage, including any relevant experience of advising on Francophone African legal matters, in particular Gabon and CDI.
