Tullow Oil is looking to hire a Management Accountant on a fixed term contract basis for 6 months. The position will be based from our Head Office in Chiswick 2 days per week, with the remainder of the week working from home in the UK.

We are looking for an individual to undertake management accounting and forecasting for our Corporate Accounting entities. This will include, but will not be limited to preparation of monthly management accounts, facilitation of quarterly forecasting, involvement in annual budgets and leading the processing for recharging travel costs.

As you will be required to interact with internal and external stakeholders, we are looking for an individual who has stakeholder management experience and can adjust their communication style to match the audience.

The Successful Candidate Will Be Responsible For

Management Reporting

  • Produce monthly G&A reports with commentary to London Corporate Centre and AGS budget holders.
  • Meet with budget holders quarterly to discuss actuals and forecasts of G&A and timewriting.
  • Coordinate accurate data collection of London G&A costs within the SAP accounting system and Cognos Management Information System - including Month end processes in SAP and Cognos including allocations, accruals and forecasts in G&A, P&L and Cashflow.


Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Involvement in annual budget process for London general and administration costs, timewriting and allocations.
  • Provide relevant cash flow analysis to Treasury.
  • Work closely and effectively with Group Finance to implement new group wide processes, procedures, and systems.


Remote Teams

  • Manage relationships with remote Accenture team to enable prompt and accurate data postings during close and monthly reporting cycle.
  • Identify further opportunities to rationalise and outsource regular processes.



  • Reviewing monthly reporting on timewriting non-compliance; working with timewriters to fix errors and correct missing timewriting.
  • Support for the monthly timewriting recharge process and validation of time written charges.



  • Liaise with external auditors as required to assist in understanding and reviewing Head Office accounting including the allocations certification process.



  • Analyse expenditure and make cost control recommendations.
  • Inform the annual accrual process for recharge locations.
  • Pro-actively engage in group wide Corporate Projects Ad-hoc duties as required.




  • Proven provider of management information and reporting.
  • Substantial knowledge and experience of general and administration / head office costs.
  • SAP or similar ERP system essential.
  • Experience with MI system essential, Cognos BI desired.
  • Experience of time-based allocation systems essential.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel essential.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas industry preferable.
  • Experience of JV cost recovery and billing preferable.



  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified/part-qualified accountant
